The path leading to S. Elia crosses the estate S.Elia, a private property enclosed by a gate. Informe yourself before about the possibility of accessing. In any case, we recommend walking the trail, though only to the gate, for its natural, historical and natural beauties.

Description

From the Circumvesuviana stop of Sant’Agnello, climb on the paved road towards “Trasaelle” and “Colli di Fontanelle”. In the square, walk along the narrow street leading to the “Belvedere”.
From the terrace take the steep steps of limestone until to reach the pinnacle that was the western pillar of the famous Arch of Sant’Elia, also called “of the Queen”, and then “Porta S. Elia”.
After passing this arch, continue along the road until to the intersection, where you have to go to the right.
Climb a few meters and continues to the other pinnacle, called “Pizzo ‘e Cardillo”.
The trail continues along a steep descent, leading after a few hundred meters to the gate that is the eastern boundary of the vast estate of Sant’Elia.
By asking permission to access private property, you will reach Punta S. Elia, dominated by a large pine tree, where you can take a break for lunch.
The trail is classified T (easy) from Circumvesuviana Station of S. Agnello to Intersection 300 Fontanelle; E (medium) from Intersection 300 Fontanelle to Punta S. Elia.

  1. Da Sant’Agnello fino al Belvedere

    Dalla stazione di Sant’Agnello, si percorre una strada tutta in salita progressiva, di facile percorribilità. Dopo la chiesa di Trasaelle, la pendenza si fa più sostenuta. Al km 2,5, abbiamo dovuto proseguire dritto e poi a sinistra perché il percorso originale ci portava su un sentiero molto scivoloso. Comunque, la deviazione presa ha aggiunto qualche centinaio di metri al tratto iniziale.
    Mentre si saliva, si apriva alle nostre spalle tutto il golfo di Napoli con bellissima vista su ´O Vesuvio ! Alla nostra destra, si erigeva il Monte Vico Alvano, sovrastando la città di Meta.
    Segnaletica CAI generalmente assente.
