How to get there
The trail begins from Paterno Sant'Elia, one of the Tramonti hamlets reaching by car or on foot from Pucara hamlet or Polvica hamlet, where the SITA bus line Maiori-Tramonti stops.

Description
The “Trail of The Ants” is an ancient pedestrian path that connects Tramonti to the nearby seaside places of Maiori and Minori.
It runs through an area dense of lemon groves and its name is linked to this particularity.
In fact “ants” were called the women carrying lemons, who slowly, with a basket of around 55kg on their heads, in single file, transported the freshly picked lemons to Maiori and Minori.
This was the work most practiced by women on the Amalfi Coast until the 1970s. A very hard work, exhausting, which however they did with surprising naturalness.
The path begins in Paterno Sant’Elia, close the Church of Sant’Elia, where it crosses the Path of the 13 Churches (310 CAI).
From this intersection, go down Via Vitagliano (the paved road on the right of the Church of Sant’Elia) until to reach Casa Vitagliano (218 m) where you will leave the asphalted road to take the path on the right. After about 200 meters, you will reach the intersection with the Trail 315E to Ravello. At this intersection (210 m) continue to the left. The path, after a first stretch of stairs, becomes a country way and thus continues for its whole way.
Once in Vallone Trapulico (160 m), recognizable by the presence of an ancient water conduit dug into the rock to the right of the path, you must continue along the steep slope to the right and then to the next pedestrian way that leads the San Gineto place (m 295), where the path ends at the cross with 315A Trail.
From this point, it is not long way (about 20 minutes) to reach the “Path of the lemons”, which connects Minori to Maiori.

Sentiero molto bello purtroppo ha poca segnalazione, arrivati presso “Il Giardino Dorato” ci siamo persi e non siamo riusciti ad arrivare a Minori ma ci siamo trovati sulla strada provinciale.
Bel sentiero, tenuto benissimo
Percorso il 25 marzo 2026.
Il tratto non presenta particolari difficoltà.
In piccoli tratti c’è una leggera crescita di vegetazione composta da felci che in estate potrebbe chiudere un po il percorso.
Sul percorso nei pressi del bivio di san Gineto c’è una piccola e carina area di sosta con un gazebo e un tavolo con una bella vista su maiori, Segnalo che c’è un grande albero di pino sdradicato che potrebbe cadere a momenti, bloccando il sentiero e distruggendo la struttura.
Per il resto il tratto è ben tenuto e ben segnato .

L'altra Costiera...
Sentiero percorso questo mese chiudendo un bel circuito convento di san nicola all andata per il 315E-315A e ritorno per il sentiero delle Formichelle.Sentiero molto bello che trasuda storia e tradizioni ancora oggi presenti grazie al lavoro lodevole degili abitanti e di un’agricoltura eroica.
Cani all'inizio del sentiero
Ho percorso il sentiero 3 volte quest’estate. Segnalo la presenza di cinque o sei cani in località Marito tenuti in libertà sul sentiero, particolarmente aggressivi nei confronti dei passanti. In un paio di casi li allontanati con un bastone. Nel terzo caso siamo dovuti tornare indietro.
Anni fa, percorrendo il sentiero che porta al Convento di San Nicola, sono stata aggredita da 7 cani che liberi accompagnavano un gregge. Ho sporto denuncia ai carabinieri che dopo sopralluogo mi hanno scritto che non avevano rinvenuto nessuna traccia di cani liberi! dopo anni leggo un pò ovunque della presenza di questi cani che impediscono di percorrerlo con tranquillità, che peccato!
