Points of interest along the trailContrapone (350), Intersection 312a (441), Punta Navarra (1036), Vetta M.Sant'Angelo (1130), Intersection 300 312a Tuoro Sant'Angelo (897)
The trail connects the village of Passiano of Cava dei Tirreni to the Peak of Mount Sant’Angelo, as well as to the Upper Trail of the chain of Monti Lattari (300CAI). It is called “the Way of Snow” for the great number of “Neviere” (large holes on the ground where, before they invented the refrigerators, snow was collected, compacted and stored, and then used in summer to preserve the food) that you meet along the way. It begins at Contrapone of the village of Passiano of Cava dei Tirreni (m 350) and precisely at the old limestone that has been transformed into the restaurant “Ottocento”. You climb the adjacent dirt road to the restaurant and, after about fifteen minutes, at the intersection with 312a (m 441), turn right on to the rocks. During the uphill, you will encounter small karst phenomena, chestnut woods, holm oaks and more. Once at Punta Navarra (m 1036), turn left towards the ridge until reaching the peak of Monte S. Angelo di Cava (m 1130), currently occupied by telecommunications, military and civilian facilities. From the peak of Monte Sant’Angelo descends along the left ridge (south direction) until you reach Tuoro Sant’Angelo (m 897), where the route ends at the intersection with the 300 and 312a CAI.[sharify]
